@spelunkerd The small tubing is the external equalising tube.

Newbie alert.
The expansion valve had three copper pipes leading in, two large size and one very small diameter. Is the third a pressure feedback device to automatically adjust the diameter of the aperture? Which tube was that?

actually it is faster to recover the refrigerant in the vapor side of the recovery tank, because the refrigerant does not have the go through the dip tube on the liquid side it was just spray into the top of the tank

you should try and do it with out the pump going, it is a little loud.
