Probably, if you know what that smells like.
Compressor burn outs usually blow the compressor wiring terminals out and that’s how you would smell it. All the refrigerant would be lost.
If your compressor is still under warranty (usually 5 years) it may be worth the repair otherwise replace the whole unit.
If your smelling it inside it may be something burning near the electric heating elements or faulty fan motor.
