What causes a house furnace to get fed more water, and then shut off? What if it gets fed too much water?

Question by Retrodude: What causes a house furnace to get fed more water, and then shut off? What if it gets fed too much water?

My furnace starts to knock drastically if it gets fed too much water, it seems to be doing just that according the the water site gage. Then it starts to get into the radiators in the house. How do I stop it from feeding the furnace when there’s evidently enough water there? Thank you for your time to answer.

If your furnace is a boiler your getting water hammer. Water is carried to the corners or turns and forced into them which makes them sound terrible. keep the water at the level indictated on the low water cutoff. or check the air vents on the radiators.
